Admission Requirements

  • Undergraduate Bachelor's degree in business or related discipline
  • GRE or GMAT
  • The Admission Committee may set other tests for applicants to determine their suitability for the programme.

TOEFL

Applicants must show proficiency in the English language. Applicants, whose Undergraduate medium of instruction was not in English, are to sit for TOEFL.

Programme Fee

The current fees (inclusive of GST) for the programme are:

Foreign Student (without service obligation) S$70,000 payable in 4 terms 4 instalments, S$17,500 per instalment

* The Singapore Management University reserves the right to alter fees as appropriate.

Scholarships

Full and partial scholarships will be available to outstanding candidates for the full-time programmes by research.

Full Scholarship:
Students on full scholarship will receive a monthly stipend of S$1,500 for up to 24 months in addition to a waiver of tuition fee. They are expected to be teaching/research assistants during the term of the scholarship.

Partial Scholarship:
Tuition fee will be waived for students on partial scholarship. There is no other stipend provided. They may be allowed to work as teaching/research assistants during the course of the programme and payment will be made for the work done.

The award of scholarship is at the discretion of the Admissions Committee.


Guidelines on work as part-time Research Assistants and Teaching Assistants

1. As part of their PGR training, SMU PGR Scholars are expected to work, without remuneration, as part-time RA/TA for up to a maximum of 7 hours per week. The nature of the unpaid work will be determined by the Dean of the School that the SMU PGR Scholar belongs to.

2. After fulfilling the 7 hours of unpaid RA/TA work per week, SMU PGR Scholars may work for additional hours as a paid part-time RA/TA, provided these additional hours do not exceed 7 hours per week. Prior to engaging in the paid part-time RA/TA work, the SMU PGR Scholar needs to obtain prior permission from the SMU Office of Research and the dean of the School that he/she belongs to. The rate of payment and the procedures for hiring and payment for these additional hours will be in accordance with the SMu's prevailing guidelines.
