About the Centre
 

The Centre for Marketing Excellence supports the development of new knowledge on marketing issues, with an emphasis on Asia . The centre's activities include:

  • Leveraging SMU's faculty expertise and their networks to create cutting-edge curricula;
  • Bringing industry leaders together with our faculty, alumni and students;
  • Focusing research on marketing issues, and developing critical insights that yield positive results for academia and business;
  • Recognizing achievement through scholarships, fellowships and professorships
  • Creating an integrated set of activities to enhance leadership, management and organizational capacity of individuals and organizations

Our Objectives

The CME will promote new solutions to marketing in a global economy, as well as innovative ideas for business organizations. It will bring together professionals working on marketing issues, from academia, the integrated marketing and strategic management firms, and a complete range of industries to stimulate new research and foster new dialogue to find solutions to the challenges of marketing and innovation. The focus of the CME would be on direct capacity building of our students (both undergraduate and graduate), the business community (through executive education) and faculty (through intensive research and collaboration). The principle objectives to achieve would be the planning, development and implementation of the following programmes at SMU. The CME will coordinate integrated activities in areas of research, teaching and engagement, here are some of the CME Activities:

  • Research & Teaching
  • Executive Education
  • Case writing & Publications
  • Scholarships, Professorships & Fellowships
  • Marketing competitions (started in Fall 2004)
  • Internships (began in 2005)
  • Speakers series (began in 2005)
  • Conferences/events (first one was successfully held in February 2006)
