Introduction

The newly-retrofitted city hostel at Prinsep Street will introduce the new concept of apartment-style accommodation for university undergraduates right in the heart of the city. SMU students will enjoy prime urban living within walking distance to SMU's Bras Basah campus, complementing the strategic advantage of the city campus location.

Central location

Situated in the civic, cultural and commercial district, the residence occupies a land area of 4,500 square metres and is within close proximity to Bugis, Little India, Middle Road, Arab Street and the National Library. Surrounding the hostel are museums, theatres, educational institutions, art galleries, cafes, restaurants and a wide range of retail malls, outlets and essential amenities. Located at 83 Prinsep Street , the residence is a short 10-minute walk from the SMU city campus. Bugis MRT, Dhoby Gaut MRT/NEL and Little India NEL stations are also conveniently located 10-12 minutes away on foot.

Apartment-style living

The apartment-style living concept allows students to experience independent living while offering opportunities for close interaction among apartment residents.

The residence comprises three blocks of four-storey apartments in a tropical setting with landscaping and green foliage. Each apartment has a lounge and dinning area, equipped with refrigerator and microwave oven, shared toilets and shower facilities and four fully air-conditioned bedrooms (two single rooms and two twin-sharing rooms). Each apartment can accommodate up to six residents. Rooms are furnished with beds, study tables, wardrobe, towel rail, study chairs, waste bins and mattresses. Rooms are also equipped with power points, LAN points and lamps.

Only same gender residents will occupy one apartment and the apartments will be clustered and segregated by gender.

Room Rates for Doctoral Students

• Single room costs S$40 nett per student per night
• Twin-sharing room costs S$35 nett per student per night
