The late Mrs Shirin Fozdar was a pioneer of women's rights. A key figure in establishing the Women's Charter, she is well known in Singapore and internationally for her work in the emancipation of women. In her honour, the Shirin Fozdar Trust Fund was launched in 1993. The Fund aims to aid in the enhancement and facilitation of the advancement of women in Singapore and the region. It is currently under the custodianship of the Wee Kim Wee Centre at the Singapore Management University . |
Gone are the days when women were solely dependent on men. Today, women in their own rights contribute fully to the nation, community and family. They have the power in their hands to make decisions and effect changes that resonate globally. In that spirit, the theme of this inaugural conference will be “Women in the Community: Change Movers”. It will be held at Singapore Management University from 26 February to 27 February 2010. To make it even more special, this year the Annual Shirin Fozdar Lecture will be held during the conference itself.
